See Dubrovnik
From The Eyes
Of A Local

Churches and monuments,
buildings and streets
do not make the city,
regardless of how
beautiful or unique they are.

Residents create the city.

The history of any city
is the history of people
who had lived there
over centuries.

Let me guide you through
the streets of Dubrovnik Old Town
and tell you the stories
of the former tenants
of my 500-year-old home.

Dubrovnik Tour Guide Vesna Barišić

Ask For Vesna – Walk With Vesna

I am born and raised in Dubrovnik, and I am still passionately in love with my birthplace. In its beauty, but even more in its rich history. All my attempts to live elsewhere failed. I always came back home, driven by longing, enchanted by this city.

My birthplace still has the soul of a medieval town, where you are never alone, in which you are never lonely. Everyone is your friend, all of them take care of you, and sometimes of your business and life, too. Full of good intentions, they participate uninvited in your life, despite the fact that their attention is the last thing you want. But that’s what friends are for, isn’t it?

I am still living in my centuries-old home and I dream about the people I’m going to meet and new friends I’m going to make. So, join me for a walk around my city. Let’s become friends!

Enchanting and family friendly! Vesna was the most amazing guide I’ve met. She’s so insightful about every corner in Dubrovnik, what is seen and what is unseen. Her witty sense of humour delights us as we appreciate more about life in medieval times, communist Yugoslavian years, homeland war, and the tourism boom era…”

“Anyone interested in the Jewish history, which is quite fascinating, of Dubrovnik should take this tour, The guide, Vesna, was excellent, and knew her material very well. She gave us a good history of the subject, pointed out various sites associated with the Jews of Dubrovnik, and took us on a tour of the historic synagogue and street of the Jews.”

Shanon, TripAdvisor

“Private and customized tour with Vesna was the best! Communication with Vesna was via email and she was quick to respond and customize our time and tour based upon our schedule. We met at the cable cars and had a three-hour tour around the old town including the walls. Vesna was so informative and shared the amazing history of the town.”

DUBROVNIK

Religious And Subordinated
Minority, Educated And

They were wealthy and well-educated, physicians, traders, ship-owners, but second-class citizens at the same time. They founded a synagogue in the rigid Roman-Catholic city, today one of the oldest existing in Europe where they proudly exhibit its own heritage in the first Jewish museum opened in this region.

The Story About
Revival And Survival

On Dubrovnik war tour you will hear a personal testimony of your guide who has lived in the city during the eight-month long siege of Dubrovnik, without electricity, water, food or medical supplies, under constant artillery fire of the former Yugoslav Army.

A Small Place For
A Great Experience

Stroll the best-preserved medieval fortified city in the world with a local guide, born in the very heart of it. Get introduced to the major city sights, evoke the glorious past times of the Republic of Dubrovnik and, at the same time, experience the real heartbeat of less than 1000 locals that still live within the City Walls.

The Art of Survival in Severe Times

Take a trip back in time to the Middle Ages and join me on this Dubrovnik private tour. Public spectacles of capital punishments, secret executions, safety measures for the plague epidemics, these are not topics that you’ll hear about in Dubrovnik today.
